Burtonから試作品現場を紹介する動画、『Burton Snowboards "Craigs" Proto Lab』がアップされた。
この動画に出演しているのは、Burton創始者のジェイク・バートン。
Burtonの試作品現場は、なんと「クレイグ」と呼ばれているそうだ。
そう、世界初のシグネチャー・ボードをリリースしたクレイグ・ケリー。スノーボード界の神と呼ばれた男である。残念ながら2003年に雪崩の事故により命を落としたが、スノーボード界の発展にクレイグの存在は不可欠であったと言えよう。
現在のスノーボード技術の発展は、クレイグにもたらされた、と言っても過言ではないのかもしれない。それくらい、クレイグはスノーボード界に様々な技術革新をもたらすアドバイスをして来たのだ。
その敬意を込めて、Burton試作品現場は「クレイグ」と呼ばれている。

Jake Burton talks about new state-of-the-art prototype facility dedicated to the late snowboard icon Craig Kelly. By far the most sophisticated R&D facility Burton has ever built, the new space is simply called ‘Craig’s’ and is located right next door to the Burton’s global headquarters in Vermont. Craig’s is where Burton can take rider feedback, build a prototype with homegrown custom machinery and then take it on snow the very next day.
