Benni Fridbjornsson DC flow rider 8 years old at DC shred Days 2013.
Benni Fridbjornsson snowboarder at Burton European open 2013 in Laax, Switzerland. Youth and Kids.
The trip by itself went according to our plan and we got confirmed what we thought :))
Benni claimed the 17th. place, thumbnail from the finals. After the first run he came 14th., a relatively safe ride without risking anything.
We decided in the later ride to "take the chance" and change two things, i.e. a backflip on the first kicker which was the smallest (10m) and a boardslide on the big box.
During the later run he landed the backflip, but somehow slowed to much down leading him to miss the second kicker (12m) and going directly to the third platform (12m), ending with a similar score as in the first ride.
Benni kept the 16th. place all until the last rider of the day did his run, that unfortunately pushed him up in the 17th. place, and therefore taking his opportunity in the finals.
33 participated in the tournament, Benni 8 years old, another 9 years old, then two 11 years old and the rest of the age between 12-14 years.
The top 6 riders from USA came all in the top 16 , riders the age of 12-14 years old.
Our strategy is to return next year, to do even better with the experience as our primary weapon.
