一般メディアはまったくといっていいほど取り上げてくれないけれど、スノーボードのメディアではかなり大きく取り上げている大会、Red Bull Double Pipe。そのハイライト動画がトランスから公開された。
ハーフパイプを２つ並べたこの大会は、年々クリエィティブになり、世界トップのライダーがチャレンジしている。
おもしろいのは、パイプで活躍するライダーが必ずしも強いというところでないところ。
２位に入ったステール・サンドベックは、ご存じスロープの選手だ。パイプを練習したのは、2010年バンクーバー五輪でパイプ選手として出場しようとしていた時以来というし。
このダブルパイプは、未来のスノーボード競技へのチャレンジとも言えよう。早速、チェックしてみよう。
After a week of solid riding for Ben and Gabe Ferguson, the dynamic duo proved that two is really better than one, winning the first ever doubles contest at Red Bull Double Pipe. The Ferguson’s used every inch of the course during the jam format competition, synchronizing three tandem transfers, a frontside 720 transfer and a backside rodeo transfer on the 18’ spine to show off their creativity and technical ability in order to take the win.
