世界を代表するリーディング・スノーボード・マガジン、TransWorld SNOWboarding主催によるTransAm大会。
この大会は、アマチュアがプロになるための登竜門で、大会の度に全米からライダーが集まっているが、この程、初めてサマーキャンプのメッカ、ハイカスケード・キャンプ内で同大会が行われた。
ハイカスケード内には、有名プロ・ライダーたメーカー関係者も多かっただろうから、さながらスター誕生のようにこの大会で若いライダーたちはアピールができたのだろう。
日本でもいくらかこうしたアマチュアの動きがあるけど、もっとアメリカのようにガンガンやるとこのスノーボード業界も活性されるだろうから、ぜひそういう機運盛り上げてほしいもんだね。
For the first time in 12 years the Transworld SNOWboarding TransAM landed at High Cascade Snowboard Summer Camp at Timberline Resort, Mt Hood, OR. Eighty top amateur snowboarders from around the country showed up for an awesome day in the Oregon sun as they threw down for top TransAM bragging rights and great prizes from all our awesome sponsors: High Cascade Snowboard Camp, Ride Snowboards, Muscle Milk, Anon Optics, Analog Outerwear, Giro, and Zumiez. The weather was blazing and the snowboarding was too as competitors blasted their finest tricks on the pristine course sculpted by the HCSC Diggers. The creative set up combined with Mt Hood local Terrance Stilin-Rooney on the mic plastering verbal excitement across the high cascades left competitors high fiving and smiling ear to ear all day.
At the end of the day Quinten Fast and Kennedi Deck walked away with top TransAM honors for the guys and girls categories thanks to their impressive and well-rounded riding. All winners received tons of awesome product including custom High Cascade backpacks, Anon goggles, Analog outerwear, Giro Helmets, Zumiez gift cards, Muscle Milk product and gear from Ride Snowboards.
