The LAAX OPEN 2017 ended with exciting Halfpipe finals today. The perfectly shaped LAAX Superpipe on Crap Sogn Gion was the center of attention, when 12 men and 6 women were trying to grab the Halfpipe crown. In breath-taking finals Chloe Kim (USA) and Chase Josey (USA) walked away as proud LAAX OPEN 2017 Halfpipe Champions.
We are and always have been focused on introducing new talented riders, giving them an opportunity to shine but we didn’t want to forget the true heroes of snowboarding. So we decided to get together a handful of snowboarding hall of famers to western Norway last spring, riders who left a serious mark on the shred world, to ride surf and party together.
Riders, media and spectators were greeted with another sunny and beautiful day here in LAAX and a perfectly shaped Slopestyle course for the big finals today. Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) and Max Parrot (CAN) are taking home the titles as well as the biggest portion of the prize-money cheque.
This year Jesse focused his energy towards making his first urban Full Part. Spending the first 2 months of 2016 putting in work in the European Alps and getting results. Back in Australia it was the good old injury story restricting the same level, that Europe showed, of stacking footy.
Regardless it was a great year setting the mood for whats to come.
